Maguire outjumped the much smaller Emil Forsberg to nod low into the corner, as England scored for the eighth time in Russia from a dead-ball situation. The lively Sterling should have doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time when he brilliantly controlled Jordan Henderson's lofted pass, but he was unable to find a way past Robin Olsen and his follow-up was blocked by Andreas Granqvist. RESULTS ENGLAND 2 KOLKATA, 7 JULY West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that she is not averse to working with the Congress to oust the BJP government at the centre which is behaving like “a hundred Hitlers”. The TMC president, in an interview to a magazine, said she shares very good relations with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi but has never worked with Congress president Rahul Gandhi, whom she described as “much junior”. To questions about prime ministerial ambitions, Banerjee said she has “no intent”. However, she was ambivalent when asked if she was not ruling herself out of the race. “Instead of preparing for PM candidature, let us work together,” she said in the interview to India Today which was posted on its website. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief said she has no problems working with anybody as long as their intentions and philosophy are clear On her ties with the Congress leadership, Banerjee said, “What I can say about Rajivji or Soniaji I cannot say about Rahul because he is much junior.” “I don't have any problem. My intention will be to unite with all. But it is not my decision alone. It has to be the decision of all the regional parties. I have no problem working with anybody as long as they are efficient, and their intentions, their philosophy, their ideology are clear,” she said when asked if she is not averse to dealing with the Congress or having an understanding with the party. Asked whether she is not ruling herself out for PM, she said: “Who am I to rule out. I am a seasoned politician... CM twice. I can’t say anything which others may not like’’ Banerjee, while speaking on the issue of some Opposition parties wanting to forge a federal front without the Congress, noted that some parties don't support the Congress as they have their own regional compulsions. “I don't blame them. I say let's work against the BJP together. If the Congress is strong and gets more seats in some places, let it take the lead. If the regional parties are together somewhere else, they can be the decision- makers,” she said. Congress president Rahul Gandhi had yesterday held individual meetings with senior party leaders from West Bengal in the national capital to know their views on strengthening the state unit and on the way forward ahead of the Lok Sabha elections next year. A section of Congress leaders has shown inclination to have a tie-up with the TMC in West Bengal which has a total of 42 Lok Sabha seats. PCC chief Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, however, is not in favour of the party having any truck with Mamata Banerjee's TMC. The TMC chief expressed confidence that a grand alliance of Opposition parties is possible. On her idea of fielding a common candidate against the BJP, she said, “I am not saying that. If it is done for 75 seats, then the game will be over. If (BSP supremo) Mayawati and (SP chief) Akhilesh (Yadav) work together in Uttar Pradesh, the game will be over. Then after the elections, a common minimum agenda can be prepared. It is a big family, let it be a collective decision.” Asked about the possibility of becoming the prime minister, she said, “Me? It is a very silly question. First I will say I have no intent. I told you, I am a simple person and happy with my job. But we SWEDEN CROATIA RUSSIA gard. Southgate withdrew Henderson for Eric Dier in the closing stages and will have a full squad to choose from in the semi-final, injuries permitting. Meanwhile, Brazil's surprise defeat in theWorld Cup has stunned fans in the Lebanese capital Beirut, where football supporters have long put their hopes in the Latin American side. “We are all Brazilian, we all love Brazil to death whatever happens,” said Ali, dressed in a skin-tight shirt, after seeing his heroes lose 2-1 to Belgium on Friday and crash out of the tournament in Russia. I know I am a seasoned politician, a very senior politician now, after my struggles. I have been MP seven times, MLA twice and a CM twice. So I cannot say anything that others may not like”. Banerjee, who has floated the idea of federal front, has been meeting several influential leaders to cobble up a strong Opposition alliance against the BJP . “They are committing atrocities, inflicting torture. Even some BJP people are not supporting them. They are behaving like a hundred Hitlers,” she said. Four school students who were also allegedly involved in the incident were sent to a remand home as they are juveniles. The principal denied the charge in POCSO court dents be heard separately and sent to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB)which would verify their age. The girl's statement was also recorded by Judicial Magistrate Rakesh Mani Tiwary. The principal told the court that the allegations against him were false and this was a conspiracy to frame him in the case in order to bring disrepute to him and the school. The school is located at Parsagarh village of Saran district, about 35 kms from the district headquarters of Chhapra. District Superintendent of Police Har Kishore Rai said an FIR was registered under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and the POCSO Act. In her complaint, the girl alleged that she was first raped by some of the students of her school in a toilet there in December 2017. The girl claimed that the students also recorded a video of the act and threatened her to make it viral if she reported the matter to anyone, the SP said. When the victim complained to the school principal about the incident, he first convinced and persuaded her not to lodge a complaint as the matter would bring disrepute to her and the family and later along with two teachers raped and blackmailed her, he said. The girl told reporters today that she could not muster courage to lodge a complaint with the police since her father was in jail for several months. Several Cong leaders on bail, party is bail gaadi: PM PRESS TRUST OF INDIA JAIPUR, 7 JULY Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the Opposition party was now being called a bail gaadi' as several of its leaders were out on bail. Several leaders who are called stalwarts of the Congress and former ministers are out on bail these days, Modi said at a public rally here, punning on the Hindi term for a bullock cart. He said the people were well aware of the intentions of the Congress party and had started calling it a bail gaadi. Making an apparent reference to the surgical strike into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 2016, he criticised the Congress for questioning the capabilities of the Army. It is unfortunate that political opponents also committed a sin by raising questions on the capabilities of the Army. This has never happened before and the people will not forgive those who are doing this kind of politics, he said. Modi was addressing a rally of beneficiaries of welfare schemes run by the Centre and the state government in BJP-ruled Rajasthan, where Assembly elections will be held later this year.
