P9 PM: Our fight is against terrorists, not Kashmiris Tension grips kashmir as govt launches crackdown on separatists, arrests 150 people press trust of india TONk (RAjASThAN), 23 FEb P rime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India's fight is against terrorism and not against the Kashmiris even as he vowed again to settle the score with Pakistan over the Pulwama attack. Have faith in the Army and in the Modi government, he said here at a rally where he also seemed to refer to the reported harassment of Kashmiris after the car bomb attack that killed 40 CRPF jawans. Modi accused Imran Khan of not living up to the assertions he made soon after becoming Pakistan's prime minister, and also indirectly charged the Congress-led government in 2008 of not acting against that country after the Mumbai terror attack. He referred to the mood of veer ras (bravery and heroism) in the country after the Pulwama attack, particularly mentioning social media. But our fight is against terrorism, against the enemies of humanity. Our fight is for Kashmir, not against Kashmir, not against Indo-Americans protest the Pulwama terror strike. Near the Pakistan Consulate in NY. the Kashmiris, he added. He said the Kashmiri youths are also troubled by terrorism and are ready to fight against them. We need to keep them with us. He said the Kashmiri people take care of Amarnath pilgrims. A year back, there was firing on Amarnath pilgrims and Kashmiri Muslim people had lined up for donating blood and to protect lives,” he said. “If we want to win the fight, we should not make mistakes. A terrorist is a terrorist and the Kashmiri people are also facing trouble due to terrorism, he said, accusing the previous governments of not fulfilling their aspirations. Ten- Iss baar hisaab hoga, hisaab poora hoga. We will not sit quiet after suffering this pain. We know how to crush terrorism. Imran Khan has failed to live up to the promises he made after becoming Pak PM. The situation between India and Pakistan is very dangerous after the Pulwama terror attack. I can understand New Delhi’s desire for something very strong as it has lost 50 people. NARENDRA MODI DONALD TRUMP PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA US PRESIDENT sion mounted in Kashmir on Saturday as the government launched a massive crackdown on separatists and detained over 150 people, mainly from the Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir, including its chief Abdul Hamid Fayaz, ahead of a hearing in the Supreme Court on Article 35-A of the Constitution. Though police termed the action as routine saying that leaders and potential stone pelters have been picked up in the past, officials privy to the development said this was the first major crackdown on the Jamaat-e-Islami. Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday condemned JKLF chief Yasin Malik's detention and the crackdown on the Jamaate-Islami Jammu and Kashmir leadership, saying force and intimidation will only worsen the situation. Police swooped on Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir members in Kashmir during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, and detained around two dozen of its cadres, including its chief Abdul Hamid Fayaz - hours after JKLF chief Yasin Malik was detained on Friday night. Strongly condemn the nocturnal crackdown on Jamat-e-Islami leadership and cadres and the arrest of Yasin Malik. Such illegal and coercive measures against Kashmiris are futile and will not change realities on ground. Force and intimidation will only worsen the situation, Mirwaiz posted on Twitter. ‘Central projects scuttled by state’ statesMan neWs serViCe bhUbANESWAR, 23 FEb Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said projects worth Rs 1,36,417 crore proposed by the Central government have been scuttled by the Naveen Patnaik government in the state. Armed with figures and correspondence, Pradhan said the projects under various sectors entailing such huge investments have been obstructed by the Naveen Patnaik government which is “anti-Odisha”. The development of Odisha under Modi’s Purvodaya has been sabotaged in the most bizarre manner depriving the youth of the state of employment opportunities, he charged. Pradhan regretted that before the press conference today, he wanted to meet the chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi to review the position and seek his point of view on the long delayed projects. “ I waited for two hours, the Chief Secretary did not turn up. I am told he sought permission of the CM but did not get any response.” Releasing a booklet on the projects and making a detailed presentation, Pradhan said the incompetence, corruption riddled government had failed to even pro- vide no objection certificate to central projects and delayed joint ventures which were originally proposed by the state. The only reason is that Naveen Patnaik is scared of Modi’s popularity and is apprehensive that if these projects come through the PM will get all the credit, remarked Pradhan. Giving sectoral breakup he said Rs 51,395 crore projects in the petroleum sector, 56,563 crore in road transport and highway, 12,286 crore railway projects, Rs 560 crore health and education projects, Rs 200 crore tourism are all stuck due to land and other clearances related issues. The Union Minister said he had written over 62 letters raising matters to the Odisha government but had not received even an acknowledgment . The Naveen Patnaik government has Rs 6438 crore under the District Mineral Fund of which it has used less than 1011 crore and that too mostly in construction activity for contractors to make money, he charged. Questioning the KALIA scheme and the reluctance to accept the PM Kisan scheme, Pradhan said the state does not have a valid list of farmers, sharecroppers and landless till date.
