Most of the AEFI reported so far are minor like fever, headache, nausea,” the official said. He said an AEFI may or may not be related to the vaccine or vaccination process. Noting that only a few AEFI cases may require hospitalisation which are classified under serious AEFI, Agnani said protocols are in place for reporting, immediate case management at vaccination session site, transportation and hospitalisation and further care of such cases. The states and UTs have been advised to plan Covid19 vaccination sessions four days a week to minimise disruption of routine health services and some states have already publicised their weekly vaccination days, he said. Around 50 percent of intended beneficiaries have taken the jab in Delhi, Assam and Andhra Pradesh, local officials said and expressed the hope that the vaccination drive will pick up soon. The survey also found that those with blood group 'O' may be less susceptible to the infection, while people with 'B'and'AB'bloodgroupswere at a higher risk. For its study, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) took samples of 10,427 adult individuals working in its laboratories or institutions and their family members, based on voluntary participation, to assess the presence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2. The study which was piloted by CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Delhi said of the 10,427 individuals, 1,058 (10.14 per cent) had antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. A follow up on 346 seropositive individuals among the samples after three months revealed stable' to higher' antibody levels against SARSCoV-2, but declining plasma activity for neutralizing the virus, Shantanu Sengupta, senior scientist at IGIB and one of the co-authors of the paper said. Addressing a press conference at the Singhu border protest site, union leader Yogendra Yadav said, “We will carry out a tractor parade on the Outer Ring Road in Delhi on Republic Day. The parade will be very peaceful. There will be no disruption of the Republic Day parade. The farmers will put up the national flag on their tractors.” The authorities had moved the Supreme Court seeking an injunction against the proposed tractor march or any other kind of protest by farmers which seeks to disrupt the gathering and celebrations of Republic Day on January 26. The matter is pending in court. The Supreme Court had on January 11 stayed the implementation of the three laws, against which farmers are protesting at Delhi borders for over 50 days now, till further orders and appointed a four- member panel to resolve the impasse. Bhartiya Kisan Union president Bhupinder Singh Mann, however, recused himself from the committee last week. Apart from Ghanwat, agri-economists Ashok Gulati and Pramod Kumar Joshi are the other panel members. “We are meeting on January 19 at the Pusa campus. Only members will meet to decide the future course of action,” Ghanwat, president of Shetkari Sanghatana (Maharashtra), told PTI. “One of the four members has backed out of the committee. If the apex court does not appoint a new member, the existing members will continue,” he said. The Supreme Court may take into account the matter of recusal of the member from the panel on Monday when it is scheduled to hear the pleas relating to the controversial farm laws and the farmers protests. Renowned Indian classical musician Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan passed away at the age of 89 on Sunday afternoon at his residence here. Khan's daughter-in-law Namrata Gupta Khan said that the veteran breathed his last at 12.37 pm at his Bandra home. “He was fine in the morning... but during his massage he vomited. His eyes were shut and he was breathing slowly. I tried connecting to doctors but by the time they came, he had already died,” Namrata said. Khan would have turned 90 on March 3. Khan had suffered a brain stroke in 2019 that left one side of his body paralysed. Khan's last rites were performed at Santacruze Kabrastan in the evening. Born on March 3, 1931 in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, Khan was one of the most respected vocalists in Hindustani classical music, belonging to the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991, the Padma Bhushan in 2006 and Padma Vibhushan in 2018. In 2003, he was honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi award. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, singer Lata Mangeshkar, sitar maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and music composer AR Rahman, among others, mourned his PTI death.
