Bhardwaj said that the percentage of failure will be reduced and children will get a chance to improve themselves. “As per the National Education Policy (NEP), the stress level of students should be reduced. So if we conduct the board examination in two terms the stress level of the children will be less because the first exam will be half of the syllabus, the second exam will be of another half of the syllabus,” he said. The term 1 exam will give an opportunity to the students to evaluate themselves and prepare better for the next term exam. Term 1 will be objective type and term 2 will be subjective, he added. India’s cumulative vaccination coverage went past 99 crore-mark on Tuesday, said Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya. He tweeted: “We are at 99 crores. Go for it India, continue to rapidly march towards our milestone of 100 crore #COVID19 vaccinations.” India’s vaccination drive commenced on 16 January 2021. Initially, the vaccination was opened for Health Care Workers (HCWs) only. Later, from 2 February, front line workers were made eligible for vaccination. From 1 March, drive included people above 60 years and those above 45 years with associated specified 20 comorbidities. A sizeable number of beneficiaries who are eligible have not received their second vaccine dose. The states and UTs should focus on the second dose, sources in the Union health ministry said Underlining states and UT’s efforts to achieve landmark vaccination coverage, Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said many states have adequate doses to vaccinate those awaiting second dose. Holding a virtual review meet with the health secretaries and National Health Mission Managing Directors of states and UTs in view of the billion vaccination target, he said the Central government can provide additional vaccine doses to the states/UTs to accelerate the vaccination drive. India logs 13,058 new cases, lowest in 231 days In an antithesis of apprehensions about spurt in cases after the festive season, India on Tuesday reported 13,058 cases, the lowest in 231 days, and 164 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. The active caseload too is showing a steady decline. Currently at 1,83,118, lowest since March 2020, it constitutes 0.54 per cent of the country’s total positive cases. The national recovery rate as of now stands at 98.14 per cent, at its highest peak since March 2020 after 19,470 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,34,58,801. With the new fatalities, the overall death toll has increased to 4,52,454. Maharashtra has so far seen 65,62,514 infections and 1,39,233 deaths. In Mumbai, there were 339 fresh Covid-19 cases and two deaths. The city currently has 4,532 active cases. In the last 24 hours, 11,81,314 tests were conducted. With the administration of 87,41,160 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s vaccination coverage exceeded 98.67 crore as per provisional reports. Bengal cases: West Bengal today registered 726 fresh Covid cases and 9 deaths. Kolkata recorded 183 cases and 2 deaths while North 24 Parganas recorded 106 cases and 2 deaths in the last 24 hours.
