Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin in Siem Reap, Cambodia on the margins of the 9th ASEAN defence ministers’ (ADMM) Plus meeting. The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the growing bilateral defence engagements while discussing further initiatives that can be taken to strengthen maritime cooperation between the two countries, including in maritime domain awareness. Both leaders also shared their perspectives on the regional security situation. The two defence ministers discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest while expressing their commitment to strong India-US defence cooperation. Rajnath emphasised the need for both countries to work together for capability building in critical domains such as military aviation, artificial intelligence and cyber technology. He said he looked forward to building a roadmap towards greater defence industrial collaboration between India and US. He highlighted India’s growing expertise in aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and ship-building, repairs and refits and suggested specific areas where US defence companies can look for technology cooperation and manufacturing opportunities with Indian partners in India. The Saket court today extended the police custody of Aftab Poonawala to four more days after he was produced before the court via video conferencing in a special hearing. Aaftab was produced before the Saket court here after his five-day police custody expired. "What happened that happened in heat of the moment," Aaftab told the court. Aaftab also said that he is cooperating in the investigation. He further told the court that he is having difficulty in recalling the incident. Mobile internet/data services have been suspended in seven districts of Meghalaya beginning from 10:30 am today, a notification issued by the Home (Police) Department of Meghalaya government said. He was addressing a gathering after distributing about 71,000 appointment letters to new recruits under the Rozgar Mela via video conferencing. He welcomed and complimented the new public servants and reminded them that they were assuming this important responsibility in a very special time period, i.e. Amrit Kaal. He highlighted their role in the country’s resolve to be a developed nation in the Amrit Kaal and asked them, as representatives of the central government, to understand their role and duties comprehensively and constantly focus on capacity-building. The Delhi Police has also moved a lower court seeking permission to conduct a polygraph test on Poonawala. Police had earlier said Poonawala, who confessed to killing his live-in partner and chopping her body into 35 pieces, was giving misleading answers to questions. Metropolitan magistrate Aviral Shukla of Saket Court referred the matter to Magistrate Vijayshree Rathore, who granted permission for a narco analysis test on Aftab. Delhi Police had earlier submitted in court that Aftab was giving wrong information and misleading the investigation. The plea for a polygraph test is the second scientific examination that Delhi police sought to conduct on Aaftab. On Thursday, the court ordered Rohini Forensic Science Laboratory to conduct a narco test on Aaftab within five days. Also, a plea has been moved in the Delhi High Court seeking a transfer of investigation in the Shraddha murder case from Delhi Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Delhi Police solved the sixmonth-old blind murder case and arrested Aftab Amin Poonawalla on the basis of Shraddha's father's complaint. Aftab and Shraddha met on a dating site and later moved in together at a rented accommodation in Chhatarpur. Delhi police received a complaint from Shraddha's father and registered an FIR on November 10. Delhi Police interrogation revealed that Aftab Poonawala killed Shraddha on May 18 and later started planning for disposing of her body. He told police that he had read about human anatomy so that it could help him in chopping off the body. Police said that Aftab, after searching on shopping mode Google, cleaned blood stains from the floor with some chemicals and disposed of stained clothes. He shifted the body in the bathroom and bought a refrigerator from a nearby shop. Later, he chopped the body into small pieces and put them in the fridge. While initiatives like the production-linked insurance (PLI) scheme would play a huge role in this, the main foundation would be the youth and the skilled manpower of the country. More importantly, these opportunities are emerging for the youth in their own cities and villages. This has reduced the compulsion of migration for the youth and they are able to play their role in the development of their area,” he said. The PM highlighted the new opportunities created by measures in sectors ranging from startup to self-employment and space to drone. Some 80,000 startups were providing the youth an opportunity to showcase their talent. Drones were being increasingly used in medicine, pesticide, and mapping in the Svamitva scheme and in the defence sector. This was creating new jobs for the youth, he said. Remembering the launch of India’s first space rocket by the private sector a few days ago, Modi lauded the decision to open up the space sector thereby creating employment opportunities for India’s youth. He also gave the example of 35 crores plus Mudra loans that have been sanctioned. He urged the new appointees to make the most of the new opportunities that were presented to them. He highlighted that these appointment letters were only the entry point that opened up a world of growth for them and urged them to become deserving candidates by learning from experience and from their seniors. In order to thwart the Jamtara gang of cybercriminals, the Jharkhand government's Department of Higher and Technical Education, Jharkhand Technical University and Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation have set a target to train one lakh cyber fighters in the coming 5 years. Online 'Cyber Vidyapeeth' has been started with the goal to develop the state as a cyber defence corridor. The action plan regarding cyber security was shared in a workshop at Jharkhand Technical University (JUT). It was announced that the cyber fighters would be the most important part of the corridor. To achieve this target, cyber security skill courses have been started in the state's Vinoba Bhave University and Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation. Shashank S. Garudayar, chairman, Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation, said that excellent career prospects would be available for the youth trained in the cyber protection course. He added that the sector had a shortage of talent with a need of 3.1 million cyber trainers and 60 million cyber professionals worldwide. The initiative in Jharkhand is a step in this direction, said Garudyar. He stated the possibility of the area being developed into a cyber defence business hub. Jharkhand is a 'focus state' in the field of cyber security, as the Jamtara module remains a challenge for the entire country.
