Along with Mr Modi, the inauguration will be led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The PM will also install a historic 'Sengol' in the new Parliament building. However, major parties will be conspicuous by their absence on the occasion as they have decided to boycott the inaugural ceremony. The Congress and 20 other Opposition parties have accused the government of “bypassing” President Droupadi Murmu for the event. The government has, however, received confirmation from 25 political parties that they are attending the inaugural ceremony. These include parties that are not members of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). ANI STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE NEW DELHI, 27 MAY Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged states and Union Territories (UTs) to work with NITI Aayog to take the country ahead towards achieving its vision for the Amrit Kaal. Chairing the eighth Governing Council Meeting (GCM) of NITI Aayog which was attended by Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors representing 19 states and 6 UTs, the Prime Minister stressed that the Centre, states and UTs should work as Team India and fulfil the dreams and aspirations of people for a Viksit Bharat in 2047. The meeting deliberated on several key issues including, health, skill development, women empowerment and infrastructure development, with the avowed objective of making India a developed nation by 2047. The theme of the meeting, attended by the chief ministers of several states but boycotted by some of those from the Opposition-ruled state, was ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Role of Team India’. Several Union Ministers, including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal and Narendra Singh Tomar attended the meeting. The chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh attended the meeting while the chief ministers of Bengal, Punjab, Delhi, Bihar, Telangana, Rajasthan and Kerala did not participate in the meeting. Army Chief visits Manipur IMPHAL, 27 MAY Two days before the scheduled visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the ethnic violence-hit Manipur, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande reached Manipur on Saturday to hold meetings with various civil society organisations in Churachandpur district. Amidst sporadic incidents of violence, the Manipur government, meanwhile, extended the suspension of internet services for another five days. Defence sources said that the Army chief arrived in Imphal on Saturday on a twoday visit. He will visit various districts where he will interact with the local commanders and obtain a first-hand account of the ground situation. On Sunday, he will meet governor Anusuiya Uikey,CM N.
