Notably, India on Saturday launched “Operation Brahma” to assist Myanmar in the wake of a devastating earthquake that struck the country on Friday. The Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief efforts are in progress in conjunction with Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Indian Army, Indian Air SHIMLA, 30 MARCH Six persons were killed while five others were injured in a landslide and tree fall near Gurdwara Manikaran Sahib in Kullu district on Sunday. Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Kullu Ashwani Kumar, confirming the incident, said, "Six persons were killed and five injured in a landslide that uprooted trees near Manikaran Gurudwara parking." The injured have been rushed to hospital at Jari, he added. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed deep grief over the unfortunate demise of six persons in a landslide . He directed the district administration to extend all possible assistance to the victims and their families. He has also instructed officers to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured. Expressing his condolences, the chief minister prayed for the peace of the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss. He also wished a swift recovery for those injured in the incident. Sukhu assured that the state government stands firmly with the affected people in this hour of grief. Force and NDRF under the direction of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). “Indian Navy ships Karmuk and LCU 52 from the Andaman and Nicobar Command will also be sailing for Yangon on March 30 (Sunday), to assist in the HADR operations,” the Defence Ministry said in a statement. Approximately 52 Tons of relief material have been embarked onboard these ships, including Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief pallets consisting of essential clothing, drinking water, food, medicines, and emergency stores, it said. The Indian Navy remains committed to India's resolve to remain the 'First Responder' in the region, it added. On Saturday, an Indian Air Force C-130J aircraft carrying 15 tonnes of relief material reached Yangon. The first tranche of humanitarian aid includes tents, sleeping bags, food packets, hygiene kits, generators, essential medicines, and other emergency supplies.
